The 7th Pay Commission recommendations were hated by all Central Government employees. For them the hope lies in the month of January.
The big question is will the pay hike come in January. Will the fitment factor be raised to 3 times in January. When will the NAC meet.
What will be the pay hike:
The government is clear that the pay hike would be raised from Rs 18,000 to Rs 21,000. Employees want the hike to be at Rs 26,000. However the economy has been hit badly post GST and demonetisation. Hence there is no proposal as of now to hike the basic minimum pay to Rs 26,000.
Arun Jaitley is last resort:
Soon, the CG employees would meet with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Only he can give some clarity on the matter, the employees feel. Jaitley was the one who in fact assured the employees that the matter regarding the hike would be looked into following which the NAC was formed.
Will pay hike come in January:
There is no date that has been fixed for the NAC meet as yet. However if the government wants to go ahead with the pay hike by January, then the NAC will have to meet. Only once the NAC clears the proposal and suggests to the government can the pay hike be implemented.
Will it be a happy new year for CG employees:
While 2017 was a bad year for the CG employees thanks to the poor recommendations made by the 7th Pay Commission, 2018 could be a better year. The government wants to give the pay hike by January, reports indicate.
