7th Pay Commission: How to calculate your new salary
Fixation of pay in the revised pay structure.
The 7th Pay Commission recommendations were implemented last month. Central government employees will need to calculate their salary as per the new recommendations.
The government had made around 34 changes before approving the report of the commission. The new allowances are applicable from July 1 2017 onwards.
HRA
According to the category cities fall in, minimum HRA central government employees will get is Rs 1,800, Rs 3,600, and Rs 5,400. The HRA will be 24%, 16%, and 8%. If the DA is 25%, the HRA will be 27, 18, and 9%. If the DA is 50%, the HRA will be 30, 20, and 10%.
Pensioners
Pensioners will get Rs 1,000 fixed medical allowance. Differently-abled employees will get a special allowance of Rs 6,750. Here are the recommendations.
Other allowances
Rs 7200 nursing allowance to differently-abled employees. Rs 540 operation theatre allowance. Army jawans posted at Siachen will now get Rs 30,000 additional allowance. Earlier, it was Rs 14,000. Officers will get Rs 42,500 instead of Rs 21,000. Children education allowance increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2250 per month. Children welfare allowance of differently-abled women increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000.

Fixation of pay in the revised pay structure : The pay in the applicable Level in the Pay Matrix shall be the pay obtained by multiplying the existing basic pay by a factor of 2.57, rounded off to the nearest rupee and the figure so arrived at will be located in that Level in the Pay Matrix and if such an identical figure corresponds to any Cell in the applicable Level of the Pay Matrix, the same shall be the pay, and if no such Cell is available in the applicable Level, the pay shall be fixed at the immediate next higher Cell in that applicable Level of the Pay Matrix.
