7th Pay Commission: 3% DA Hike Announced for Haryana Govt Employees
There is some good news on the 7th Pay Commission. The Haryana government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, announced on Wednesday a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for its employees and pensioners, effective from July 1, 2024. According to the official order, the DA and DR will increase from 50% to 53% of the basic pay.
The enhanced DA and DR will be paid along with the salary and pension for October, while arrears for the months of July to September will be disbursed in December.

On October 16, the Union government also approved a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for central employees and pensioners, effective from July 1, 2024. This decision, which benefits over 1 crore people, was announced ahead of the Diwali festival.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conveyed Diwali greetings to all central government employees and pensioners while sharing the news of the DA/DR hike, adding that it will cost the government an additional ₹9,448 crore.
This increase follows a 4% hike earlier this year, bringing the total DA/DR to 53%. The hike is based on the 12-month average of the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers, aimed at offsetting the impact of rising prices. The decision was approved by the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
