76 Schools To Be Closed; Read Details Here
Authorities have announced to close 76 Government schools after river Ganga started flowing above the danger level mark in Bihar. District Magistrate of Patna, Chandrashekhar Singh has taken the big step to temporarily close 76 government schools across eight blocks keeping students safety in mind.
The schools will be closed from September 21 until the situation gets better in the region. The decision follows continuous heavy rainfall in northern India, causing the river's water level to rise significantly, which may result in flood i the region.

According to the reports, Ganga river's levels exceeding safe limits at various points including Gandhi Ghat (48.60m), Hathidah (41.76m), and Digha Ghat (50.45m), Bihar's authorities have empowered district magistrates to shut schools during such flood situations. This step reflects the government's commitment to public safety amidst natural calamities.
The rising water levels have not only affected Patna but also led to flood-like conditions in Ghazipur, Ballia, and Varanasi, among other districts. The increasing menace of the floodwater has prompted evacuations, with residents of Samastipur and Vaishali districts seeking refuge in elevated areas. This crisis follows a similar occurrence in August when several villages in Bihar found themselves submerged. Additionally, the Purvanchal region in Uttar Pradesh faces a comparable threat, prompting government action to mitigate the impact.
In light of these developments, the Bihar government has initiated measures to combat the flooding, illustrating the severity of the situation across the region. The continuous rainfall has exacerbated the conditions, leading to the inundation of homes, schools, and other structures, thereby displacing communities and disrupting daily life. This situation underscores the challenges posed by natural disasters and the importance of timely interventions to safeguard affected populations.
