6 People Missing As Boat Capsizes Near Kalashi Village In The Pune District
In Maharashtra, at least six people remain unaccounted for as a boat capsized near the Ujani dam waters near Kalashi village, close to Indapur Tahseel in the Pune district. The incident occurred on the evening of 21 May, and both the National and State Disaster Relief Forces have already reached the location to rescue the victims.
PTI managed to get a statement from the Indapur Tehsildar, Shrikant Patil, who said that the victims of the incident included three men, two women and one child.

According to the Hindustan Times, the Pune Superintendent Of Police made the following statement regarding the incident: "Seven people were in the boat. One of them swam to safety and raised an alarm, following which local villagers and rescue teams reached the spot. A search operation is on."
Officials on site also said that due to thunderstorms, rains, and strong winds, which may have led to the incident happening in the first place.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Marashthra is going to be experiencing thunderstorms today in certain regions alongside rain. This is not the only warning of thunderstorms its district has received recently, as there have been several warnings of thunderstorms near the Pune region for the past week or so, as reported by the Times Of India.
There has been no confirmation with regards to the safety of the other people, nor has there been any statement with regards to why a boat was allowed to carry passengers and travel through Ujani dam waters when the region had warnings of thunderstorms for the past several days.
