53-year-old man held for attempting to sexually assault girl

Coimbatore, Mar 14: A 53-year-old man was taken into custody today on charges of sexually assaulting his tenant's four-and-a-half-year-old girl here.

Mother of the girl, while searching for the daughter who was playing outside, heard the screams of the girl from the owner's house and found the man trying to sexually assault her, police said.

As the woman shouted, the neighbours rushed to the house and rescued the girl and handed over the man to police. The girl was admitted to Government Hospital here, they said.
