53 kids hospitalised after consuming special mid-day meal in MP

: 53 school children, aged between 10 and 15, were admitted to a hospital on Saturday after having mid-day meals served at their school in Icchawar in Madhya Pradesh's Sehore district, said

Reportedly, the condition of five kids is said to be serious. On Saturday around 11 am, after they had consumed the meals prepared on the occasion of Independence Day, the children started complaining of nausea and vomiting. Immediately, the kids were rushed to the local hospital. Five of them were shifted to the district hospital after their condition became serious.

According to the report, the local people alleged that sub-standard ingredients were used to prepare the food. A teacher has been suspended in connection with the incident. Also, the district administration has terminated the contract of the self-help group which was assigned with the task of preparing mid-day meal scheme.
