Following the approval of the 7th Pay Commission, the Gujarat government announced a 50 per cent salary hike for Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers in the state.

The ASHA workers went on protest demanding equal rights, pay and social security benefits in September. Paying heed to their demands, the Gujarat government announced that their salaries will be raised by 50 per cent.
The Gujarat government has announced a slew of sops for employees of the various departments ahead of Assembly polls in the state. The state government announced to revise the salaries of teachers and other employees of 105 municipal corporations as per the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission. It also increased the income cap for accessing the benefits of Ma-Vatsalya scheme.
