5 missing in boat capsize in West Bengal

Burdwan (WB), May 15: Five persons are missing after a boat capsized while ferrying people on the river Bhagirathi near Kalna in this district, police said on Sunday (May 15).

The boat sank as it was carrying a large number of people returning from a fair at Kalna to Shantipur in Nadia district last night, Superintendent of Police Gaurab Sharma said.

While many people swam to safety, five persons were missing, he said, adding that divers were pressed into service to locate them.
