A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the IBA and bank unions was signed in December 2023, with both public and private sector banks included in the agreement.

On March 8, 2024, a joint note was signed between the IBA and the All India Bank Officers Confederation, laying out the framework for the five-day work week and weekend holidays.

The banks are usually operate between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm in most parts of the country. However, it might possibly open at 9 am and close at 5.40 pm. It has to be noted that some are opened for public from 10 am and 4 pm. Once rolled out, customers need to find out the working hours by visiting their branches.
