5 Arrested in West Bengal's Half-Naked Parade Case
Five persons were detained by the police in Malda, West Bengal, following a distressing incident involving two women. The women were allegedly accused of theft and were subjected to a brutal assault by local shopkeepers who then paraded them half-naked.
The incident, which occurred three to four days ago in Malda's Pakuahat area, caused outrage within the local community.

An initial report revealed that the two women were caught by locals under suspicion of theft, leading to the severe beating they endured. A video of the incident has since surfaced, capturing the shocking moment when several women were seen assaulting the accused pair. Interestingly, no complaint was lodged with the police until the video emerged on various social media platforms.
Upon launching the investigation, the police disclosed that the two women were caught red-handed while allegedly committing the theft, which resulted in their violent encounter with local female shopkeepers.
After the incident, the women who apprehended the accused pair fled, and those who participated in the assault were hesitant to file any complaints due to fear.
"The incident happened in Pakuhat area in Malda 3 to 4 days back. Two women were caught on suspicion of theft by local traders. Both women were thrashed by the local female traders. Later, both women left or escaped from the area and did not lodge any police complaints. Traders also did not file any complaint in this regard," stated the West Bengal Police.
The investigation into the case is currently underway.
