4 Hyd boys arrested in Kolkata were planning to join ISIS: Police
Hyderabad, Sept 5: A day after global terror organisation Al Qaeda announced that they are launching an Indian wing, Hyderabad police revealed that four engineering students from the city planned to join Islamic jihadist organisation ISIS.

The students have been returned to their families, said the police. They were caught by the police on Sunday in Kolkata and during the interrogation, they revealed that they were trying to travel to Iraq via Bangladesh to allegedly join the ISIS fighting in Iraq and Syria.

The Centre issued a special alert to all police stations in the country after al Qaeda made the announcement. According to the video message the terror group released, the group will be focusing on states like Assam, Gujarat and Kashmir. Intelligence agencies expressed concern that the group may soon start recruiting youngsters to fight for them.

Hyderabad police said that the students were lured by propaganda on social media. However, since the students had not committed any crime on Indian soil, they were released.
