4.9 magnitude quake strikes Nicobar Islands
Earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred at 09:18 am in Nicobar Islands region on Sunday.

However, there were no reported injuries or damages.Earlier in March this year, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake had jolted the Andaman and Nicobar island archipelago.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, a unit of Ministry of Earth Sciences, the earthquake, whose epicentre was in the Nicobar islands region, had occurred at 8:21 am at a depth of 10 kms.
Meanwhile, in November 2015, the sea around the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago had witnessed 12 earthquakes in 24 hours, with almost all measuring 5 and more on the Richter scale, but no tsunami alert was issued back then.
