3rd Police University in the country to be set up at Thrissur

Thrissur (Ker), May 30: The third Police University of the country, after Rajasthan and Punjab, will be set up in the city, State Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said here today.

"The Kerala Police University, the third in the country after the ones in Rajasthan and Punjab, will enable policemen take degrees in Forensic Science and Technology. Facilities for research in forensic science, crimes and detection will also be provided," he said.

A committee, having retired judges and former Director Generals of Police had been constituted for the purpose and would submit its report within three months, he said. "A meeting with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has been fixed for June 3, where all the modalities would be chalked out," he added.
