34 fishermen's remand extended by Lankan court

The remand of the fishermen, belonging to Akkaraipettai, was extended till September 11, President of local fishermen association said, quoting information received from Indian High Commission official Mahalaingam in Jaffna.
Meanwhile, the Pamban Fishermen's Association today decided to intensify their 19-day old strike and called for closing of shops to press their demand for the release of the 25 fishermen who were arrested on Aug 25 in South Sea area.
