Attended by bigwigs

Political bigwigs across parties in Maharashtra on Thursday gathered at the wedding of BJP MLA Santosh Danve, son of state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve at at lavish ceremony on the outskirts of Aurangabad city at Jabinda Estate lawn grounds on Thursday.

The lavish wedding had who's who in state politics in attendance, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, former chief minister Narayan Rane, leader of opposition in legislative council Dhananjay Munde, and several Union and Maharashtra ministers.

Reminiscent of November's 500 crore wedding

The wedding is reminiscent of the wedding celebration of mining baron Gali Janardan Reddy's daughter Brahmini's Rs 500 crore wedding that came under scanner for its opulence. At time, it not only got the nation's attention since it was post demonetisation, it also brought the income tax officials to their doors.

The 4-day affair saw politicians, businessmen and celebrities alike. Taking lavish to a different level, Reddy's team of designers turned the Bengaluru Palace and its surrounding into the ancient kingdom of Vijayanagar with a temple, market, an entire village set and two make-shift houses for the families of the bride and the groom.

The slick pre-wedding video

The gala wedding evoked flak from social activist Anjali Damania, who questioned the source of funds for the event. "I am wondering from where does the money for such a lavish wedding come from," Damania said.

Before the wedding, a slick pre-video shot by Dream Diaries, the video had garnered 33,000 views on Facebook and was doing the rounds on Whatsapp as well.

'Love me again'

The video shows the BJP chief's son and his (now wife) Renu dancing and romancing to the to the John Newman number Love Me Again. Santosh and Renu had got engaged last month.

Santosh Danve is the youngest member of the Maharashtra legislative assembly from Bhokardan constituency. Renu is the daughter of well-known musician-composer Rajesh Sarkate.
