Parents of a 3-year-old girl have begun a fight against a pre-school in Bengaluru where the toddler was allegedly sexually assaulted. The parents accuse the pre-school authorities of attempting to brush the incident under the carpet and have demanded action against the school authorities as well as the safety of other vulnerable children.

In a statement to OneIndia, one of the parents of the little girl claimed that the child was sexually abused in her pre-school in Bellandur by a man identified as Manju. The child complained of pain after she returned home on Friday. Realising what had happened, the parents rushed to the school and met the faculty. The parent alleges that instead of being alarmed, the authorities tried to brush off the incident.

"My child identified the perpetrator and narrated the horrific incident time and again in front of the school staff, but they refused to take any action or even believe her. We rushed our child to the hospital for a medical test but the staff refused to even file a complaint with the police in this regard," the father said.

The parents alleged that after taking the child to the hospital, they filed a complaint, following which, an FIR was filed. The accused was arrested immediately since he was working with the pre-school. "On Saturday, after police formalities were completed, a staff of the school came to file a complaint and even apologised," the father alleged.

The parents allege that they were hoping to see strong action from the management against staff who tried to hide the incident but all that they received was hollow assurances. "On Sunday night, our child told us that most of her friends had undergone similar experiences and had been victims of the same accused. On Monday, we went to the school to tell other parents about the incident since we thought that they should be aware of such incidents taking place. The accused had access to roam around the school premises freely," the concerned parent said.

A few more parents have now joined this fight and want safety for their children. Parents demand that the school be shut until further investigations are carried out and they (the parents) are given a concrete answer. They have asked for a psychologist or counsellor to speak to each child to find out if they have been victims of sexual assault at the hands of a paedophile. They have also sought action against the staff of the school who tried to blanket the incident initially.

While the police confirmed the incident and claimed that arrest was made, multiple calls to the school authorities evoked no response.
