3 persons charred to death for suspected witchcraft in Jharkhand

Lohardaga (Jharkhand), Apr 18: In a suspected case of witchcraft, three members of a family were charred to death and another suffered severe burns when villagers set fire to a house at Gudi Teka Toli in Lohardaga district.

Superintendent of Police Kartik S today said villagers used inflammable substance to set their house on fire last night and Gobardhan Bhagat, Bhado Bhagtain and Sukhmania Bhagat were burnt to death.

The injured person has been admitted to a hospital.

Another member of the house, Charia Bhagat, managed to flee, the SP said. It was a case of superstition and witchcraft, he said.
