3 Jawans Martyred As Terrorists Attack Army Vehicles In Jammu & Kashmir's Poonch

Heavily armed terrorists launched an assault on two army vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Thursday evening, resulting in three soldiers losing their lives and three others sustaining injuries, according to reports.

The attack took place around 3.45 pm at Dhatyar Morh while the vehicles were en route to join an overnight cordon-and-search operation. A defense spokesperson mentioned that the operation was initiated based on credible intelligence pointing to terrorist presence in the Dhera Ki Gali (DKG) area of Poonch district, sparking an encounter.

As additional forces were en route to the site, terrorists targeted an army truck and a Gypsy, leading to the tragic loss of three soldiers and severe injuries to three others. Responding swiftly, our troops retaliated against the attackers, stated Jammu-based defense spokesperson Lt Col Suneel Bartwal.

The ongoing operation resulted in three fatalities and three non-fatal injuries among our troops, as per the spokesperson.

Following the incident, ambulances and reinforcements from 48 RR and 43 RR were dispatched to the area. Restrictions on public movement were imposed, and a significant anti-terrorist operation was launched. The region between Dhera Ki Gali and Bufliaz, where the assault occurred, is densely forested and connects to Chamrer and Bhata Dhurian forests, known for previous hostile encounters.

In earlier instances, this area witnessed attacks, including an ambush in April and subsequent fatalities during anti-terrorist operations in May. The past engagements reflect the challenging terrain and heightened tensions in the region due to terrorist activities.
