3 engineering students drown in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, Sept 29: Three engineering students drowned in a stop dam in Mandir Hasaud area in the district.
The incident occurred last evening when victims identified as Mayank Sahu, Dinesh Dhurandhar and Ravi Lodhi, all students of MMCT engineering college, had gone to Kurud stop dam under Mandir Hasaud police station limits for a picnic, a police official said today.

While Mayank was a student of M.Tech, the two others were pursuing B.E. Preliminary investigation revealed that the trio had gone for an outing.
They entered the water at the stop dam for bathing and drowned, he said. When some passersby saw an abandoned motorcycle and clothes belonging to the students, they informed the police following which a search was launched to trace the missing persons, he said.
Based on details recovered from their identity cards, their family members were contacted, he said, adding that the bodies were recovered late last night.
A case has been registered in this connection, he said.
