2G scam: CBI raids 15 properties
New Delhi, Aug 19: The Central Bureau of Investigation is carrying out raids in several places in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation scam. The properties in question are said to be connected to former telecom minister A Raja against whom a case of disproportionate assets has been registered.
CBI officials say that the raids are part of the investigation and it is necessary to ascertain the properties and their value as this is a case of disproportionate assets.

The CBI which has been conducting raids in at least 15 places. Most of the raids are being conducted in Delhi. Raids may be conducted in Chennai as well and the team out there has been intimated the source also said.
The CBI today registered a case of disproportionate assets in connection with the 2G spectrum allocation case against A Raja. The scam itself is worth Rs 1.76 lakh crore. It has been alleged that the former minister had amassed wealth disproportionate to his known source of income. We are ascertaining whether the properties that are being raided are connected with Raja or not, the officer also informed.
Fronts being checked:
The CBI says that as per the information available some of the properties were purchased by the fronts floated by the minister and his associates. The raids will ascertain these details, the CBI official pointed out.
There are also several individuals who would come under the scanner during the raids. It is believed by the CBI that these individuals may have helped in purchasing these properties.
