250 people return to Hindu dharma in Chhattisgarh

In Jashpur, the problem of Christian conversions has been problematic. Many organisations are fighting to wade away this menace

In a major development around 250 people from 36 families returned to the Sanatan fold on February 21 during a ceremony held in Imlipara near Chiknipali in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh.

The ceremony was held with the efforts of Dharm Jagran Samanvay Vibhag and Arya Sam. During the programme, 250 persons who had converted to Christianity returned to the Sanatan Dharma.

The convenor of the Akhil Bharatiya Ghar Wapsi Samithi, Prabal Pratap Singh Judev washed the feet of the villagers with Gangajal and welcomed them home.

He told the media that the menace of conversion is a grave threat to the integrity and sovereignty of the country. In a video shared on the social media, Judev can be heard saying that conversion sharks are conspiring against the age-old cutter of the Vanvasi community. It is a well hatched conspiracy against the country. However as long as we are there we will oppose it tooth and nail, Judev also says.

He also appealed to the Hindu community to unite and uproot the incumbent Congress government in the state. He alleged that the Congress government is shielding the conversion sharks in the state. The misdeeds of such sharks is being overlooked by the Congress government, he also said. "I appeal to all Hindus of the state to unite and end the evil of illegal conversions,' Judev also said.

Jashpur has long faced the menace of illegal conversions. There are a lot of missionaries at work here, who indulge in rampant conversions. Most of the people are lured with perks and then forced to convert to Christianity.

It is organisations like the Arya Samoa, Dharm Jagran Samanvay Samiti and Akhil Bharatiya Ghar Wapsi Samiti which are running campaigns to fight this menace.

Judev and his team have managed to bring back over 20,000 people back to the Sanatan Dharma in the past couple of years.

In a similar event that was held in Sundargarh district bordering Odisha, over 500 people from 171 families were brought back to the Sanatan fold in October last year. In another ceremony held in Jashpur in 2021, over 1,200 Christian converts were brought to back to Hinduism.
