Deadline for filing of GSTR-1 extended till Oct 10
The council will discuss technology glitches in GSTN portal, the imposition of higher cess on luxury and SUV cars and reduction of tax rates on about two dozen items.
Cess on mid-segment cars has been increased by 2 per cent, on large cars by 5 per cent and on SUVs by 7 per cent, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced after the 21st GST Council meeting in Hyderabad. No additional burden on small cars, Jaitley said.

The council also decided that the deadline for filing of sales return or GSTR-1 will be extended by a month to October 10.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Arun Jaitley said, "Approximately Rs.95.000 cr tax collected for the month of July. Some spill over of VAT collection of June paid in July will also be added."
"Overall GST collection has been robust so far, " he said.
He further said that the council has reviewed the functioning of GST Network which on two or three occasions got overloaded and those transient challenges have been rectified.
The council has decided to appoint a Committee of Ministers which will continuously interact with GST Network to ensure smooth transformation.
The high-powered council comprises state finance ministers and is headed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
