Out of the 60 winning candidates winning candidates in Tripura, 16(27%) winning candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves.
Out of 59 MLAs analysed during Tripura Assembly elections in 2018, 12(20%) MLAs had declared criminal cases against themselves, a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms said.

Winning candidates with criminal cases: Out of the 60 winning candidates analysed in 2023, 16(27%) winning candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves. Out of 59 MLAs analysed during Tripura Assembly elections in 2018, 12(20%) MLAs had declared criminal cases against themselves.
Winning candidates with serious criminal cases: 9 (15%) winning candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves. Out of 59 MLAs analysed during Tripura Assembly elections in 2018, 10 (17%) MLAs had declared serious criminal cases against themselves.
Winning candidates with cases related Attempt to Murder: 3 winning candidates have declared cases related to attempt to murder (IPC Section-307) against themselves.
Party wise Winning candidates with Criminal Cases: 5 (16%) out of 32 winning candidates from BJP, 3(23%) out of 13 winning candidates from Tipra Motha Party, 5(46%) out of 11 winning candidates from CPI(M) and 3(100%) out of 3 INC winning candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
Party wise Winning candidates with Serious Criminal Cases: 3 (9%) out of 32 winning candidates from BJP, 3(23%) out of 13 winning candidates from Tipra Motha Party, 2(18%) out of 11 winning candidates from CPI(M) and 1(33%) out of 3 INC winning candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
Financial:
Crorepati Winning candidates: Out of the 60 winning candidates analysed, 21 (35%) are crorepatis. Out of 59 MLAs analysed during Tripura assembly elections 2018, 15 (25%) MLAs were crorepatis.
Party-wise crorepati winning candidates: 10 (31%) out of 32 from BJP, 4(36%) out of 11 from CPI(M), 4 (31%) out of 13 from Tipra Motha Party and 3 (100%) out of 3 from INC winning candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore.
Average assets: The average of assets per winning candidates in the Tripura Assembly Elections 2023 is Rs 1.52 Crores. The average of assets per MLA in the Tripura Assembly Elections 2018 was Rs 92.06 lakhs.
Party wise average assets: The average assets per winning candidate for 32 BJP winning candidates is Rs 1.89 Crores, 13 Tipra Motha Party winning candidates is Rs 60.92 Lakhs, 11 CPI(M) winning candidates is Rs 80.11 Lakhs, 3 INC winning candidates is Rs 4.79 Crores and 1 Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura winner candidate has assets worth Rs 2.06 Lakhs.
Other details:
Age details of winning candidates: 29 (48%) winning candidates have declared their age to be between 25 and 50 years while 31 (52%) winning candidates have declared their age to be between 51 and 80.
Gender details of winning candidates: Out of 60 winning candidates analysed, 9(15%) winning candidates are women. In 2018, out of 59 MLAs, 3 (5%) MLAs were women.
