2 labourers killed in cave-in at AIIMS construction site

New Delhi, Mar 9: Two labourers died and three were severely injured today when earth caved in at a construction site on AIIMS premises.

The incident took place around 1 PM when the five labourers working at the site near the mortuary of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) were taking rest.

Suddenly, a mound of earth caved in, leaving all five labourers trapped, a senior official said. The police, fire department and other agencies were informed and a rescue operation was launched.

Teams of National Disaster Response Force also rushed to the spot. One person was found dead and four were rushed to hospital, where one more died, the official said.
