Srinagar, Aug 12: Two terrorists alleged to be carrying out a reconnaissance of the Chowghan Grounds in Jammu and Kashmir have been arrested. The two persons identified as Jamal Din and Abdul Karim were in a burqa when they were arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police.

The arrests come in the wake of a nation wide alert being issued ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. It appears as though Din and Karim were planning on disrupting the Independence Day celebrations.

Terrorists

Burqa clad terrorists were surveying targets:

The arrests that took place at the Kishtwar town is considered to be a major breakthrough for the Jammu and Kashmir police. They were either here to carry out attacks during the Independence Day celebrations or to avenge the death of Gujjar Habib, a hardened Lashkar militant who was killed by the security forces in Kashmir, an officer informed OneIndia.

The two men had almost foxed the police and may have even managed to escape. Both men were draped in a burqa and even wearing ladies shoes, the officer informed. The lead up to Jamal took place as the police already had him on the list of suspicious persons.

Massive security in place:

The security in Jammu and Kashmir has been beefed up ahead of the Independence Day celebrations. Kashmir has already had its share of terror attacks in the recent days. Telecom operators have been attacked at Sopore and the recent Udhampur attack only added to the worries of the security agencies.

There are major combing operations that are taking place along the border with 5,000 additional security forces being posted.
