17 killed, 35 injured in bus accident in Mainpuri
At least 17 people have died and more than 35 injured after a private bus hit a divider and overturned near Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

The injured have been admitted to a hospital nearby.
According to reports, the driver of the bus was speeding when the vehicle hit the road divider. The collision led to the bus being overturned.
Sixteen people, including a woman, died on the spot while another person succumbed to his injuries at a Saifai hospital, Mainpuri Superintendent of Police Ajay Shankar Rai told PTI.
Their identity was being ascertained. Mostly labourers, returning to their native villages in Uttar Pradesh from Rajasthan, were travelling on the bus.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the deaths in the accident and hoped for the early recovery of those injured. "My condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a tragic accident in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh. I hope those who are injured recover at the earliest," the Prime Minister's Office tweeted quoting Modi.
