16-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Raped in Moving Ambulance in Madhya Pradesh; Driver and Accomplice Arrested

A distressing incident occurred in Mauganj district, Madhya Pradesh, where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a moving ambulance. The event took place on November 22, within an ambulance operated under the 108 emergency service. Police have arrested two of the four accused individuals, including the driver, as part of their investigation.

Teen Girl Allegedly Raped in Ambulance

The victim was travelling with her sister and brother-in-law, neither of whom were patients. Deputy Inspector General Rewa Range Saket Pandey stated that two additional people, the driver and his associate, were also in the vehicle. The driver was known to the girl's family, which is why they chose to travel with him.

Arrests and Charges Under POCSO Act

According to Pandey, the girl's sister and brother-in-law exited the ambulance under the pretext of fetching water. The driver then drove away without waiting for them. During this time, Rajesh Kewat, the driver's associate, allegedly raped the girl in Sunsan village. The accused kept her captive overnight before abandoning her by the roadside the following morning.

After returning home, the girl shared her ordeal with her mother. Initially hesitant to report due to concerns about family reputation, they approached the police on November 25. A case was filed against four individuals aged between 25 and 30 years, including Kewat. The police have charged them under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Investigation and Search for Remaining Accused

The police have successfully apprehended two suspects: ambulance driver Virendra Chaturvedi and his associate Kewat. Efforts are ongoing to locate the girl's sister and brother-in-law, who are accused of facilitating the crime. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to bring all involved parties to justice.

This case highlights serious concerns about safety in emergency services and raises questions about trust in such critical situations. The investigation continues as authorities work to ensure justice for the victim while addressing broader safety issues within emergency transport services.
