16 per cent had pending criminal cases in Kalyan-Dombivali polls
Mumbai, Nov 3: Maharashtra Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) analysed the self- affidavits of 741 candidates who contested the Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation Elections of 2015.
It is interesting to note that even before actual election had been held on 1st November' 2015, a total of 3 wards (ward no 46, 105 and 113) witnessed unopposed elections. Also, there were no nomination papers filed for ward nos 114 and 119.
The rest of the affidavits were not analysed as they were not uploaded on the website at time of making this report.

Candidates with Serious Criminal Cases: Out of the 741 candidates, 95 (13%) candidates have declared serious criminal cases including cases related to murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, robbery, extortion, etc.
Party wise Candidates with Criminal Cases: 28 (26%) out of 108 candidates analysed from BJP, 26 (23%) out of 114 candidates analysed from Shiv Sena, 21 (25%) out of 83 candidates analysed from MNS, 9 (16%) out of 55 candidates analysed from INC, 4 (15%) out of 26 candidates analysed from BSP, 3 (7%) out of 45 candidates analysed from NCP, 1 (6%) out of 17 candidates analysed from Bahujan Vikas Aghadi, 1 (13%) out of 8 candidates analysed from AIFB and 1 (20%) out of 5 candidates analysed from CPI have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
Party wise Candidates with Serious Criminal Cases: 23 (20%) out of 114 candidates analysed from Shiv Sena, 21 (19%) out of 108 candidates analysed from BJP, 14 (17%) out of 83 candidates analysed from MNS, 7 (13%) out of 55 candidates analysed from INC, 4 (15%) out of 26 candidates analysed from BSP, 3 (7%) out of 45 candidates analysed from NCP and 1 (13%) out of 8 candidates analysed from AIFB have declared serious criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
Crorepati Candidates: Out of the 741 candidates analysed, 191 (26%) are crorepatis.
High Asset Candidates: Out of 741 candidates analysed, 20 candidates declared assets worth more than Rs. 10 crores. 2 candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs 100 crores.
Party-wise Crorepati Candidates: 51 (45%) out of 114 candidates analysed from Shiv Sena, 47 (44%) out of 108 candidates analysed from BJP, 18 (22%) out of 83 candidates analysed from MNS, 15 (27%) out of 55 candidates analysed from INC, 11 (24%) out of 45 candidates analysed from NCP , 2 (25%) out of 8 candidates analysed from AIFB and one each candidate analysed from RPI, CPI, BSP & Rashtriya Samaj Party are crorepatis.
