15 injured in storm, highway blocked in Jalpaiguri

Jalpaiguri(WB), May 11: Atleast 15 persons were injured in the severe storm and hailstorm that hit West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district uprooting trees and damaging houses besides blocking a national highway.

According to official sources, the storm uprooted hundreds of trees blocking the national highway 31 besides damaging several houses, yesterday.

15 persons, who received minor injuries in the hailstorm, were treated in a local hospital. Among the affected areas are, Mynaguri, Banerhat Kalchini, Kumargram, Dhupguri, Kathalguri and Alipurduar. Several tea gardens were also affected by the storm as the disstrit administration has started work to clear the national highway and and the debris in the affected areas.
