14 lakh people in Uttar Pradesh to get skill training

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) - a public-private-partnership set up by the union finance ministry - will conduct the training modules, an official told IANS.
The state government has given its approval for the scheme and 116 centres, including one here, will be opened.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NSDC Dilip Chenoy said that a survey in the state found that there was a high demand for training in the construction sector.
Accordingly, the focus of the scheme would be to give maximum skill development and trained labour workforce to the construction sector, he said.
The Confederation of Real Estate Developers' Associations of India (CREDAI) is a partner for the scheme and has already completed a pilot project and implemented it in Pune.
Officials say, the government would also engage the private sector into this scheme to impart on-site training programmes.
Principal Secretary (Technical Education) Alok Ranjan said the state government was ready with a skill development policy for the next five years.
