12 children feared drowned as boat capsizes in Rae Bareli

Rae Bareli, Nov 7: 12 children are feared drowned after their boat capsized in the Ganga river at Raalpur Ghat in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli district today.

The boat was ferrying 18 people from Kanjas village when it sank in the river. Six of the occupants of the boat swam to safety, Superintendent of Police N Kolanchi said.

Two of the bodies identified as that of Shipli (15) and Raunaq (10) have been recovered, while a hunt is on for the others, Mr Kolanchi said.

Those missing are Shewta (16), Komal (12), Shivani (14), Shagun (15), Chotey (12), Sunil (15), Deepak (13), Suraj (16), Asha (7) and Lala (11), he added.
