100 kg beef seized in Chandigarh, three arrested

Chandigarh, Sep 26: Police here today intercepted an auto-rickshaw and seized nearly 100 kg of beef kept inside and arrested three persons from the spot.

"We intercepted the auto-rickshaw near Kalagram traffic signal point here. On checking, nearly 100 kg beef kept in three buckets was seized from three persons who were traveling in the vehicle," Manimajra Police Station's SHO, Inspector Jaswinder Singh said.

He said on questioning the trio told the police that they had procured the beef from near Chandimandir in Panchkula and were transporting it to Sector 45 in Chandigarh.

A case had been registered against them under various Sections of IPC including Section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle), Singh said.
