Here are ten things you should know about Ram Nath Kovind.
Ram Nath Kovind was today elected as the 14th President of India. Kovind scored a comfortable victory over his rival Meira Kumar. He won with a margin of 65.65 per cent of the votes. Meira won 34.35 per cent of the votes.

Ram Nath Kovind was the Governor of Bihar before he was selected by the BJP for the presidential race. After selecting him, Prime Minister Modi said that he would make an exception President and will continue to be a strong voice for the poor, downtrodden and marginalised.

Here are ten things you should know about Ram Nath Kovind:
- Ram Nath Kovind is a Dalit leader from Derapur tehsil of Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh
- His family migrated to Delhi, where he trained and practised as a lawyer.
- He became personal secretary to then prime minister Morarji Desai during the Janata government in 1977.
- BJP fielded him as party's lok sabha candidate from Ghatampur seat in 1990. He lost and never contested again.
- He was nominated twice to Rajya Sabha, in 1994 and again in 2006.
- He was made the national president of BJP's SC/ST wing in 1999.
- He was sent to Uttar Pradesh as general secretary in 2012.
- In 2014 he was made the Governor of Bihar.
- Kovind represented India in United Nations and addressed United Nations General Assembly in October, 2002.
- He is married to Savita Kovind and has a son and a daughter
