10 Militants Killed In Manipur Encounter With CRPF, Jawan Injured

In a significant development, at least ten militants were killed in a fierce encounter with CRPF personnel in Jiribam district, Manipur, on Monday. The clash erupted when militants attacked a CRPF camp, leading to an intense firefight. During the exchange, one CRPF jawan was injured and has since been airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

This encounter adds to the escalating violence in Manipur, where ethnic tensions have resulted in the loss of more than 200 lives and left thousands displaced. The ongoing conflict between the Meitei community in Imphal and the Kukis from the surrounding hills has further intensified the situation.

Arson and Attacks on Civilians

In addition to the clash, militants reportedly set several shops ablaze in the Borobekra subdivision of Jiribam. At around 2:30 PM, militants fired at the Borobekra police station and continued their arson spree in Jakurador Karong.

On the same day, a farmer in Imphal East district was injured when militants fired on him from nearby hilltop positions. This marks the third consecutive day of such attacks on farmers, contributing to the ongoing insecurity in the region. Security forces responded quickly, engaging in a brief gunfight with the attackers.

Ongoing Security Operations

Security forces continue to conduct search operations across the state, focusing on both hill and valley districts. Over the past few days, Assam Rifles and Manipur police have seized a significant cache of arms and explosives, including rifles, pistols, grenades, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). These operations are crucial in curbing the increasing militant activity in the region.

The violence in Manipur remains a serious concern, with militant groups targeting both security personnel and civilians. The state continues to grapple with unrest as security forces intensify operations to restore peace and prevent further casualties.
