1 killed, 17 injured in bus accident in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada(AP), Apr 4: One person was killed and 17 others were injured when their

overturned after hitting an electric pole in Krishna district early this morning.

The private bus was carrying passengers to Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district from Hyderabad when it met with the mishap, police said. At around 5.20 AM, when the speeding bus reached Punadipadu village near Kankipadu in Krishna district, the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve.

The bus hit an electric pole and a tree before turning turtle, they said. The deceased has been identified as A Srinivasa Rao of Bhavanipuram in Vijayawada. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Vijayawada and Gudivada, police said. The bus diver has been taken into custody for over-speeding, they added.
