1 killed, 16 hurt as bus falls of bridge in Telangana

Hyderabad, Jan 5: One person was killed on Tuesday and 16 others injured when a state-run bus fell off a bridge in Adilabad district of Telangana today, police said.

The incident occurred near a village under Easgaon police station limits at around 6.15 am when the bus carrying about 30 passengers was on its way from Kagaznagar mandal to Bejjur of the district, they said.

"As per the bus-driver, owing to some mechanical fault in the bus, he lost control over the wheel and the bus fell off a bridge before hitting its railing resulting in death of one passenger and injuries to 16 others," Kagaznagar Police Station Circle Inspector Ramesh Babu said.

All the injured were shifted to different hospitals in Adilabad and Karimnagar districts, the Inspector said, adding four out of the injured sustained serious injuries in the mishap.
