‘Will Definitely Arrest Him’: SIT Issues Strong Warning As Bandi Sanjay’s Son Remains Missing In POCSO Case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the POCSO case registered against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar's son, Bandi Sai Bhagirath, has said the accused is currently absconding and will be arrested once traced.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ritiraj, who has been deputed to lead the SIT investigation, visited the Pet Basheerabad police station on Monday, May 11, where the case was registered on May 8 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

SIT Says Accused's Phone Switched Off, Search Underway

Speaking to the media after reviewing the case, Ritiraj said the investigation team had examined the statement of the 17-year-old victim but needed further clarification on certain aspects. She stated that the SIT would meet the victim again as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The officer also confirmed that Bandi Sai Bhagirath's mobile phone has remained switched off for the last few days, making it difficult for investigators to track his location.

Ritiraj said the police had already prepared extensive documentation related to the case over the previous two days. According to her, the SIT has now drafted a detailed action plan to review the progress made so far and decide the next course of action in the investigation.

She further asserted that if the accused is located, "he will be definitely arrested."

POCSO Case Registered Against Minister's Son

The case against Bandi Sai Bhagirath was registered at Pet Basheerabad police station on May 8. The matter has since drawn significant political attention because the accused is the son of a Union minister.

The SIT was later constituted to carry out an independent and focused probe into the allegations. Officials are now working to gather additional evidence and verify the statements recorded so far.

Raja Singh Rejects Calls For Bandi Sanjay's Resignation

Meanwhile, Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh criticised opposition demands seeking the resignation or suspension of Bandi Sanjay from his ministerial position.

In a video statement, Raja Singh said the SIT investigation would determine whether there was any conspiracy to frame Bandi Sai Bhagirath or whether the allegations were genuine.

"There is a demand for the resignation of Bandi Sanjay. But he has not opposed any enquiry by SIT on the case. He said even if his son was found at fault, action will be taken as per law. Even the BJP leaders have maintained the same stance," Raja Singh said.

He further added, "If the SIT finds Bandi Sanjay's son or anybody else of perpetrating the crime, they should be punished 100 percent. Neither Bandi Sanjay, nor any BJP leader will obstruct the investigation," Raja Singh assured.

SIT Continues Probe Amid Political Attention

The case continues to remain under close public and political scrutiny as investigators attempt to trace the accused and gather further evidence. The SIT is expected to continue questioning witnesses and reviewing documents in the coming days as part of the probe.
