Volvo accident: Government offers 1 lakh compensation

The AP Private Bus Operators Association had announced a compensation of Rs one lakh each to the kin of those killed in the mishap. A probe by a two-member committee into the accident has been ordered by the state government while a CB-CID probe is also on.
Last week, families of the victims had staged a protest outside the residence of transport minister Botsa Satyanarayana seeking his resignation in addition to demanding the arrest of the owner of the private bus.
Following demands for compensation to the families, Botsa had said that the victims were entitled to third party compensation from the insurance company as the vehicle was insured.
