Two Decades Later, Complaint Links Telugu Actor Mohan Babu To Soundarya’s Death

Two decades after her death, veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu has been dragged into the untimely death of South India's popular actress Soundarya.

The actress, who was pregnant at the time, tragically lost her life in a helicopter crash while traveling with her brother for a political campaign in Bengaluru in 2004.

What's In The Complaint?

A social activist has now approached the police, alleging Mohan Babu's involvement and demanding a thorough investigation. The complaint suggests that Mohan Babu pressured Soundarya to sell a six-acre guest house in Jallepalli, Shamshabad- a request that was refused by her brother, Amarnath. The activist also claims Mohan Babu had been using the property and has urged the government to take control of it.

Further, the complainant has accused Mohan Babu of issuing threats and has sought police protection. The complaint has been submitted to the Khammam Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and the District Officer. However, no FIR has been filed, and it remains unclear whether the activist has any direct connection to Soundarya's family.

Mohan Babu has not yet responded to the allegations, and his ongoing feud with his son Manchu Manoj has also been referenced in the complaint.

However, the development has come as a surprise since the death occurred two decades ago and her family has not suspected any foulplay in her death. She was 31 at the time of death.

She was married to GS Raghu, a software engineer by profession, who was a childhood friend and a family relative.

Who Was Soundarya?

Soundarya was a multilingual actress who had worked in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi movies. She had won the National Award for Kannada movie Dweepa. In addition to it, she bagged two Nandi Awards, two Karnataka State Film Awards, and six Filmfare Awards South.

She had worked with most of the big names of her times that includes Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Ravichandran, Vishnuvardhan, Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan among others.
