Thailand-Based Nok Air Flight Declares Emergency After Takeoff From Hyderabad

Thailand-based Nok Air Flight DD959, which was scheduled to travel from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad to Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok, declared an emergency early on Saturday morning, according to GMR's Public Relations Officer (PRO).

"Nok Air flight DD959 from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad to Don Muang International Airport (DMK), Bangkok declared an emergency this morning. All passengers were deboarded and taken to the terminal after security checks, and their luggage was unloaded and checked," said Mukesh, PRO GMR.

The incident comes shortly after another emergency landing earlier in the week. On Thursday, a flight from Nagpur to Kolkata was diverted to Raipur Airport following a bomb threat. A passenger was detained by Raipur police in connection with the incident, said a police official. The plane underwent thorough inspection upon landing.

Efforts by security agencies to identify the perpetrators behind the hoax bomb threats have so far been unsuccessful. A senior official revealed, "It is confirmed that VPNs were used to send the threats. We are following up with social media platforms to gather more information about the accounts involved."

Initial investigations suggested the threats originated from European countries. However, attempts to trace the IP addresses have hit a dead end, making it challenging to pinpoint their source.

In response to the recent spate of threats, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified security protocols, deploying a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) team at major airports across the country.
