Telangana Pre Poll Survey: Not BJP, Congress To Unseat BRS

The Congress is expected to come to power with a bang in the forthcoming Telangana Assembly elections, the Lokpoll prediction said on Thursday.

The grand old party is predicted to bag 61-67 seats in the 119-member Assembly. The BRS is ending in second place by winning 45-51 seats while the BJP, who was hoping to emerge victorious in the state, is likely to win just 2-3 seats.

Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen is likely to win 6-8 seats.

As per the survey, over 500 samples were collected from each of the 119 assemblies in Telangana. Close to 60,000 samples were collected from the 10th of August to the 30th of September.

The opinion poll claims that Congress is expected to get around 41 to 44 per cent vote share. The BRS is predicted to get 39 per cent to 42 per cent.

Whereas the BJP is predicted to get around 10-12 per cent vote share followed by the AIMIM which is likely to get just 3-4 per cent vote share.

The state is expected to go for election in the month of November. Telangana has a total number of 3.17 crore voters (3,17,17,389) for the upcoming state polls, the Election Commission on Thursday announced.

Addressing a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar said that out of 3.17 crore voters, the male and female populations are nearly equal, with 1.58 crore each. He stated, "We made efforts to make the voter list very inclusive and worked with great zeal with the enrollment of the transistors. So we have been able to register 2557 transgenders. Persons with disabilities on our electors rule are 5.06 lakh," he said at a press conference.
