Telangana-Chhattisgarh Border Crackdown Nets 20 Maoists, Arms Cache
Telangana Police have made a huge counter-insurgency advance by apprehending 20 members of the outlawed Maoist Communist Party of India and seizing a sizable arsenal of weapons in the Mulugu district. The arrests come after the recent success of Operation Black Forest, an intelligence-led operation that intended to dismantle Maoist activity along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border.
The arrests were made between May 16 and 17, according to officials, during patrolling, area searches, and vehicle checks carried out by the Mulugu police stations in Venkatpuram, Wajedu, and Kannagudem. Five members of the Maoist organization's Area Committee and one member of the Division Committee are among those arrested.

The raid was based on intelligence obtained following a huge search campaign conducted by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Chhattisgarh Police in the Karrigutta Hills region, which straddles the border between the two states, according to Mulugu Superintendent of Police Shabresh P. Authorities found that Maoist groups were spreading into smaller cells around the area after taking refuge in Karrigutta.
