Seemandra plunges into darkness as power strike continues (pics)

Hyderabad, Oct 8: A large part of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema faced power failure and shortage in supply of essential goods on Monday, the fourth day of the protest against the bifurcation of th state. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy appealed to the employees of Seemandhra, who called indefinite strike for on October 9, to resume work so that normalcy could be restored in the state.

Over 30,000 power workers have gone on strike, leaving the electricity generation and supply in a shambles. Hundreds of villages in the coastal districts of the state have received no power since Sunday afternoon.

Reddy said he could not take a blanket order from the Congress leadership for he is concerned about the people of Seemandhra and their concerns, adding that he wouldn't like to be the last chief minister of united Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's indefinite hunger strike entered Day 3 on Monday while TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu began his hunger strike on Monday.
