Rahul Gandhi Writes To Revanth Reddy Over Rohith Vemula Act
Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress and the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, has reiterated his demand that states under Congress enact the Rohith Vemula Act, which would end caste-based discrimination in educational institutions.
Gandhi has written to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, encouraging them to take the initiative in passing the legislation, after previously pleading with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Gandhi wrote, "Until every student is guaranteed respect, safety, and equal opportunities, free from all forms of discrimination, our educational system cannot be truly equitable."
Named for the Dalit PhD researcher who committed himself in 2016, the Rohith Vemula Act offers a strong legislative framework to combat racism and harassment based on caste in higher education. It aims to guarantee institutional responsibility and offer protections to students who are subjected to caste or community prejudice, especially those from underrepresented groups.
Gandhi underlined the Congress Party's unwavering commitment to ending caste-based injustices and guaranteeing all students nationwide equitable access to education. He is advocating for state-level leadership in tackling systemic prejudice in India's academic institutions by urging states governed by Congress to put the act into effect.
