Pushpa 2 Stampede: Condition Of The Child Injured In Sandhya Theatre Incident Is Critical

The boy, who got seriously injured at a stampede during the premiere of Allu Arjun's movie Pushpa 2 on December 4 evening, is battling for life as his condition remains critical.

In a statement by Telangana Government Health Secretary Dr. Christina, the victim, identifed as Sritej, has suffered a brain damage.

Pushpa 2 Stampede Update

"The survivor has suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen supply during the stampede and the doctors have said that it will be a long haul for the brain to develop the capacity to analyse signals," The Hindu quoted Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand as telling the media on Tuesday.

"Child Sritej continues to remain in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), requiring mechanical ventilation with minimal oxygen support. His fever is subsiding, and he is on minimal inotropes. Vital parameters are stable, and he is tolerating feeds well. Given his static neurological status, a tracheostomy is being planned to facilitate weaning from the ventilator," Manorama quoted a medical bulletin from KIMS Hospital as saying.

The hospital says that the boy was brought on December 4 with irregular breathing. It has to be noted that the victim's mother Revathi died in the stampede and Allu Arjun has been granted bail in this case by the Telangana High Court after spending one night in jail.

Arjun has announced Rs 25 compensation for the victim's family. However, he is yet to meet the victim's family.

Expalining why he has not met the family, Allu said, "I remain deeply concerned about young Sri Tej, who is under constant medical care after the unfortunate incident. Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, I have been advised not to visit him and his family at this time. My prayers remain with them and I remain committed to taking responsibility for addressing the medical and family needs. I wish him a speedy recovery, and I look forward to meeting him and his family at the earliest."
