Purported Bribe Video Of Telangana CM-Designate Revanth Reddy Goes Viral

The man was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau in 2015, when he was a TDP MLA, on charges of trying to bribe Elvis Stephenson, a nominated member of the Assembly, representing the Anglo-Indian community. He was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code. The crime was cognizable and non-bailable. Congress has indeed put their best foot forward in Telangana."

The incident occurred in 2015 when Revanth Reddy was in the TDP where he was allegedly caught bribing an MLA to vote for his party's nominee.

The anti-corruption branch (ACB) of Telangana police had said that it set up a sting operation targeting Reddy following a formal complaint submitted by nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson. Stephenson, representing the Anglo-Indian community in the Telangana Assembly, claimed that he had been offered Rs 5 crore and a ticket to leave the country, or alternatively, to vote in favour of TDP.

The ACB had claimed that it had "collected clinching evidence in the form of audio/video recording and has also recovered the entire advance amount of ₹ 50 lakhs offered to Sri Elvis Stephenson."

Meanwhile, the Congress on Tuesday announced the name of Revanth Reddy as the next Chief Minister of the state. Announcing the decision at the party headquarters here on Tuesday, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said the swearing-in of the 54-year-old leader will take place on December 7 in Hyderabad.

Venugopal, however, did not say who would join the government.

In the recently concluded polls, the Congress emerged victorious in 64 seats in the 119-member assembly.
