Patient Assaults Female Doctor In Secunderabad; Video Of Incident Goes Viral
A shocking incident unfolded at Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday when a female junior doctor was assaulted by a patient. A viral video of the incident shows the patient, reportedly in a delirious state, misbehaving with and assaulting the doctor, sparking widespread outrage and concern over the safety of medical staff.
The incident occurred when a male patient from Musheerabad allegedly became aggressive and attacked the female junior doctor. As the situation escalated, the doctor quickly reported the assault to the superintendent of the facility.

Security personnel responded immediately, and in the ensuing struggle, the doctor's apron was torn. The patient tried to escape but was apprehended by Special Protection Force (SPF) personnel stationed at the main gate of the hospital.
"The patient was in a delirious state (confused mental condition), and in the struggle to escape from him, the doctor's apron was torn. Security personnel arrived soon after, prompting the patient to attempt to flee, but he was apprehended by SPF personnel stationed at the main gate," Opindia quoted Dr M Vamshi Krishna, vice-president of the Telangana Junior Doctors Association (T-JUDA), as saying.
Following the incident, the hospital staff informed the Chilkalguda police, who took the accused into custody. However, upon reaching the police station, the patient continued to exhibit signs of seizures, complicating the situation. Chilkalguda inspector A. Anudeep provided an update, stating, "He is suffering from seizures. Even after bringing him to the police station, he continued to have seizures. We are in the process of examining him."
A statement released by the Junior Doctors' Association (JUDA) stated: "The Gandhi JUDA condemns the assault and calls for swift and decisive action to ensure the safety and security of medical staff and interns. The association demands a thorough investigation into the incident and measures to prevent such incidents in the future."
The association has called for a comprehensive inquiry into the matter and urged the authorities to implement measures that would prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The safety and well-being of medical personnel, especially those on the frontlines, remain a priority for the association.
