No Petrol? Zomato Agent Delivers Food On Horseback In Hyderabad

As petrol bunks displayed 'no fuel' board due to now-called-off protest by truckers, Zomato ingeniously switched to horseback to deliver food to customers.

The delivery partner reached Chanchalguda near the Imperial Hotel. This innovative move came in response to the extended queues and the temporary closure of petrol pumps during the strike.

This clip has now gone viral, garnering a lot of reaction on social media sites. "It looks attention trick. They have successfully made it a news," one user said.

"Wondering how fast they got a horse and jockey. Is it Zomato's protest on the Govt or PR trick?" the second user said.

The third user stated, "Imagine the condition of food with all the shake-up." Another netizen commented, "I think it's the best way of transport, doesn't harm environment."

The fifth netizen said, "Whatever may be the food ordered.........due to the horse tuk tuk effect, by the time it's delivered the food may turn out to be khichdi."

One more netizen stated, "Where there is a will there is a way, जहाँ चाह वहाँ राह। it might be to get popularity and may not be real, but look at the positive side."

The agitation by truck drivers, which was launched in several states in the country on Monday, led to non-delivery of petroleum products at depots and people rushing to petrol pumps amid the fear of fuel shortage.

As a result of the strike, long queues of people were seen at various fuel stations in many cities as reports of the transporters' strike and fuel shortage due to it created panic among people.

Truckers protested against stringent jail and fine norms in the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for hit-and-run cases.

Under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which replaced the colonial era Indian Penal Code, drivers who cause a serious road accident by negligent driving and run away without informing the police or any official from the administration can face punishment of up to 10 years or a fine of Rs 7 lakh.

However, truck drivers and several transport associations called off their agitation after Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla assured them that their views would be considered before the implementation of a new law regarding hit-and-run cases.
