Hyderabad motorists have been put on notice as the city's Traffic Police prepare to launch a strict enforcement drive targeting those driving without a valid licence. The special checks will begin on March 1, 2026, with authorities stressing that compliance is essential to improve road safety and reduce accidents.

In an official statement, Jt. Commissioner of Police D. Joel Davis, IPS, urged commuters to ensure they carry a valid Driving Licence at all times. He also advised those yet to obtain one to approach the Road Transport Authority without delay.

The upcoming operation is aimed squarely at driving licence violations across Telangana. Officials believe that stronger enforcement will help instil discipline among motorists and minimise risky behaviour on the roads.

According to the police official, a common cause of road accidents involves drivers who don't possess a valid driving licence. Authorities see the absence of proper certification as a serious safety threat, prompting the need for this focused campaign.
